Elinor Internacional and HUNOSA reinforce mining safety in Peru with their prominent participation in the 27th ISEM International Mining Safety Seminar 2025

The Peruvian Institute of Mining Safety (ISEM) is organising its major event, the 27th International Seminar on Mining Safety, from 9 to 11 April in Lima.

Elinor Internacional supports mining safety in Peru in collaboration with ISEM through its NEBOSH and IOSH international certifications and, in a joint mission with the Spanish public mining company HUNOSA, will have a stand at the event venue.

On behalf of HUNOSA, Iván Rodríguez Martínez from the Mining Rescue Brigade will give a lecture entitled ‘Comprehensive Management of Mining Crises and Emergencies’ on Friday 11 April at 10:00 a.m.

The public company HUNOSA in Asturias, Spain, also has the Mining Safety Training Centre and is responsible for the Barredo Foundation, which has among its facilities in San Pedro de Anes (Siero, Asturias) the San Pedro de Anes Experimental Centre, located on a 142,000 m2 plot in the municipality of Siero (Asturias). The centre is located in the old San Pedro station, part of the railway line that transported coal from the Langreo mining area to the port of Gijón. Access to the centre is via the old 167-metre-long San Pedro de Anes ‘Conixu’ tunnel, built in 1849, which is considered the oldest railway tunnel in Spain.

The centre has test tunnel facilities, a fan testing laboratory, a bioclimatic building (offices and control room) and other auxiliary buildings and facilities.

Test Tunnel Facilities

The test tunnel has several facilities that support and extend the functionality of the tunnel itself, such as fan stations, fire extinguishing systems, spill collection systems, control systems, etc.

A semi-underground concrete tunnel with dimensions equivalent to those of a two-lane road tunnel, incorporating two ventilation stations, an emergency gallery with four exits, etc.
