NEBOSH English Course

The NEBOSH “International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety” (IGC) course is recognised and respected by companies and employers worldwide and is essential for any professional working or seeking work in the field of health and safety on an international level. It provides an excellent overview of occupational health and safety and qualifies you to work in all types of organisations and industries.

This course is widely accepted by employers worldwide and awards the academic level of 'Technician' to become part of the professional membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH) and Associate Member of IIRSM (AllRSM).

The course and exam are conducted in English. There are four exam sessions per year in March, June, September and December. The exam is an OBE (Open Book Exam) and can be taken online from anywhere with internet access.

To obtain your Nebosh General Certificate qualification, you must pass both parts of the assessment.

The first part of the course – Unit 1, comprising items 1-4 – is assessed online. Your examination will be marked by NEBOSH.

Further information and guidance on the examination is provided throughout Unit 1. It is essential that you take note of this guidance and follow it as you work through the first four elements.

The second part of the course – Unit 2, comprising elements 5-11 – is assessed by means of a practical assessment. This practical assessment requires you to carry out a risk assessment exercise in a workplace and record your findings on a standard form. This assessment can be completed in your own time, with full access to your textbook and the internet. Your practical assessment will be marked by NEBOSH. You will receive a “pass” or “fail” result; you will not receive a numerical score.

Further information and guidance on the practical assessment is provided in Unit 2. It is essential that you take note of this guidance and follow it while undertaking the assessment.

You must pass both parts of the assessment, the examination and the practical, within a five-year period to obtain the General Certificate qualification.
